| I'm Rod Leland. I'm a Southern Alberta based photographer and multimedia artist. I specialize in Corporate, Editorial, Journalistic, Enterprise, and Educational Photography. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Media from the University of Lethbridge, and operate a licensed and insured business in West Lethbridge. I'm also a former staff photographer at the Lethbridge Herald, and a former photo editor of the Meliorist Student Newspaper. I tell folks that inquire that I've been taking pictures for six years and making pictures for three. I believe very strongly that good photography is composed almost entirely of conscious choices. Choices like camera settings, framing, lighting, and implied mood. Without conscious choices, we're just taking snapshots. I also believe strongly in community, giving back, and helping in the photo community. I've recently been helping host free lighting workshops, lecturing for college classes, and helping other photographers with their work and techniques. 2010 is going to be the "year of the photographer." We're going to see a huge push in personal branding and style, and photographers will be working harder than ever to set themselves apart from the crowd. I'm looking forward to it! |
